Identification

An externally threaded fastener whose threaded portion is of one nominal diameter, no 0 (0.060 in./1.5 mm) or larger, designed to be held or driven with either a wrench or an inserted driver or both (excluding internal socket or internal multiple spline types), in sizes below no. 10 (0.190 in./5 mm). No. 10 and larger sizes must have a head designed for any type inserted driver (excluding internal socket or internal multiple spline types), but may also be designed for external wrenching. A locking feature may be incorporated in the design of the head or threads. Excludes:bolt, clevis; bolt, externally relieved body; screw, externally relieved body; and screw, assembled washer. See also, screw, instrument; bolt, machine; bolt, internal wrenching; and screw, cap socket head.

Details The direction of the thread when viewed axially. a right-hand thread winds in a clockwise direction while a left-hand thread winds in a counterclockwise direction.
Thread Length
0.250 inches minimum
Details A measurement of the extent of threads, including incomplete threads, along a line parallel to the longitudinal axis.
Fastener Length
0.250 inches nominal
Details The dimension, measured along a line parallel to the longitudinal axis, from the largest bearing surface of the fastener head to the extreme opposite end,or as specifically designated for other type fasteners.
Head Style
fillister
Details The style designation indicating the configuration that most nearly corresponds to the appearance of the head.
Head Diameter
0.250 inches minimum and 0.270 inches maximum
Details The length of a straight line which passes through the center of a circular head, and terminates at the circumference.
Head Height
0.102 inches minimum and 0.113 inches maximum
Details A measurement from the bottom to the top of the head,in distinction from depth.
Internal Drive Style
slot
Details The style designation indicating the configuration that most nearly corresponds to the appearance of the internal drive.
Nominal Thread Diameter
0.164 inches
Details The nominal length of a straight line which passes through the center of the threaded portion, and terminates at the circumference.
Thread Quantity Per Inch
32
Details The number of threads on the item per linear inch measured on a line parallel to the thread axis.
Minimum Tensile Strength
60000 pounds per square inch
Details The maximum rated load in tension applied in a longitudinal direction, per unit of cross-sectional area, that the material can withstand without rupture.
Screw Material
steel
Details The chemical compound or mechanical mixture properties of which the screw is fabricated.
Screw Surface Treatment
cadmium or zinc
Details The metallic,nonmetallic,and/or chemical properties with which the screw is plated, dipped and/or coated.the treatment is designed to protect the surface(s) and cannot be wiped off.
Screw Surface Treatment Document And Classification
qq-p-416,ty 2,cl 3 fed spec 1st treatment response or qq-z-325,ty 2,cl 3 fed spec 2nd treatment response
Details The specification, standard,or manufacturers reference, and the classification designation, such as type, class, grade, and the like, that identifies the surface treatment material of the screw.
Thread Series Designator
unc
Details A designation distinguishing one group of thread diameter-pitch combinations from another by the number of threads per measurement scale for a specific diameter.
Nondefinitive Spec/Std Data
1 type and 4s style
Details The number, letter,or symbol that indicates the type, style, grade, class, and the like,of an item in a nonidentifying specification or standard.
