An externally threaded fastener whose unthreaded portion is of a specified grip length, plated or unplated, and is machined to a tolerance of one thousandth (0.001) of an inch (0.025 mm) or less of a specific diameter for items one inch (25 mm) or less in diameter. Items over one inch (25 mm) in diameter shall have a tolerance of fifteen ten-thousandths (0.0015) of an inch (0.038 mm) or less. The nominal major diameter of the threads shall be at least one thousandth (0.001) of an inch (0.025 mm) below the minimum shank diameter, but not below the minimum major diameter for applicable class of fit, as shown in the screw thread standards, fed std h28 and/or other nationally recognized standards. The head is not designed to be held or driven with an inserted driver, nor is it designed for rotation by the thumb and fingers. A locking feature may be incorporated in the design of the head or threads. For items having close tolerance, and fabricated from material having 160,000 pounds per square inch (1100 megapascals) minimum tensile strength, see bolt, shear. For items fabricated from material having less than 160,000 pounds per square inch (1100 megapascals) minimum tensile strength and not having a close tolerance, see bolt, machine.

Details
A numeric-alpha designator indicating the pitch diameter tolerance and an external or internal thread.Details
The direction of the thread when viewed axially. a right-hand thread winds in a clockwise direction while a left-hand thread winds in a counterclockwise direction.Details
A measurement of the extent of threads, including incomplete threads, along a line parallel to the longitudinal axis.Details
The dimension, measured along a line parallel to the longitudinal axis, from the largest bearing surface of the fastener head to the extreme opposite end,or as specifically designated for other type fasteners.Details
The style designation indicating the configuration that most nearly corresponds to the appearance of the head.Details
A measurement from the bottom to the top of the head,in distinction from depth.Details
None.Details
The length of a straight line which passes through the center of the grip, and terminates at the circumference.Details
The length of a straight line which passes through the center of the shank unthreaded hole, and terminates at the inside circumference.Details
The nominal length of a straight line which passes through the center of the threaded portion, and terminates at the circumference.Details
A measurement of the longest dimension of the grip,in distinction from width.Details
The number of threads on the item per linear inch measured on a line parallel to the thread axis.Details
The maximum rated load in tension applied in a longitudinal direction, per unit of cross-sectional area, that the material can withstand without rupture.Details
A numeric value that reflects the hardness of an item when used in conjunction with a hardness rating scale.Details
The distance from the shank hole centerline to the largest bearing surface of the head.Details
Designates the specific surface roughness rating, representing the arithmetic average deviation of the surface from the meanline in profile.Details
The chemical compound or mechanical mixture properties of which the item is fabricated.Details
The specification, standard, or manufacturer's reference and the classification designation, such as class, condition, temper, and the like, that identifies the material.Details
The metallic,nonmetallic,and/or chemical properties with which the item is plated,dipped,and/or coated.the treatment is designed to protect the surface(s) and cannot be wiped off.Details
The specification, standard,or manufacturers reference, and the classification designation, such as type, class, grade, and the like, that identifies the surface treatment material.Details
A designation distinguishing one group of thread diameter-pitch combinations from another by the number of threads per measurement scale for a specific diameter.Part | CAGE | DAC | HCC | RNCC | RNVC | MSDS | RNAAC |
